Finding pathways to peace, renewal and transformation

Come to discover what peace can look like when it moves from theory into lived experience,  and to explore practices that can help us reconnect, listen and heal together.

The darkness of the New Moon reminds us of the potency of the pause. Of the darkness that is not empty, but full of potential. It is a moment to turn inward, to listen beneath the noise, and to make space for what is waiting to emerge.

What might become possible when we allow ourselves to truly listen, to ourselves, to one another, to the land, and to ways of knowing beyond the conscious mind?

What happens when we pause long enough to notice what wants to shift, and begin to plant the seeds of the change we would like to see?

This new moon, we turn our attention to peace, not simply as an ideal to arrive at, but as something we can practice and bring into action. Peace as a way of being: how we meet difference, how we listen, how we hold complexity, how we repair, and how we create spaces where many perspectives can coexist.

We will be joined by Julia Thandiwe Felder, an Austrian peace researcher and facilitator whose work brings peace studies into lived, everyday practice. Rather than speaking about peace only in theory, Julia explores what it means to embody it: through community, dialogue, relationship with the land, intercultural learning and practices that help us move beyond either/or thinking.

Together, we will explore what it can mean to bring restorative and transformational ideas in the face of colonization ant its roots and consequences into everyday life, and how our everyday ways of relating can become seeds for collective transformation, including in places where these perspectives may not be mainstream. We will ask what it means to cultivate peace not only within ourselves, but between us, and how the small acts of listening, connection and care can contribute to a larger process of collective healing.

Meet our guest

Via Julia Thandiwe Felder

Julia Thandiwe Felder lives on the Austrian shores of Lake Constance. She is a peace researcher, facilitator for intercultural conflict transformation, author and mother.

Her work weaves together peace studies, restorative thinking, embodied practice and community-building. Julia’s approach is deeply rooted in lived experience. She supports community dialogues and has been involved in building local community, including navigating the challenges that arise when creating new forms of community. She works with women who have experienced violence, creates nurturing spaces for mothers and children, and raises her daughter.

She has also travelled to Canada to learn from First Nations communities about ritual, grief and hope, bringing those encounters into an ongoing process of questioning Eurocentric assumptions and learning how different ways of knowing can inform peace and transformation.

You can find out more at her homepage (currently only available in German) and order her book “Becoming More of What We Are – The Awareness of Need as Drive for Personal, Social and Political Unfolding“ directly via julia.felder@inkontra.at.

What to Expect from our time together:

  • Meet with a global community gathering around the New Moon energy.
  • Learn from Julia's experience of bringing peace studies, decolonial thinking and transformative practices into rural Austrian life.
  • Explore peace as a lived practice and its potential  collective healing power.
  • Experience participatory practices that invite us to listen not only with the mind, but with the senses and the whole body.
  • Connect across cultures and perspectives through shared listening, reflection and dialogue.

Under the light of the New Moon, we gather to see more clearly, to listen more deeply, and to consider what we might be willing to bring into the world together.
